Okay, I lied. There are no more commentaries on Twilight pictures that are “coming soon”. I can’t get the files to appear onto the post! LOL. Oh well.
So, recently I read “To Kill A Mockingbird”, which is a totally awesome book that everyone should read. Especially Mock Trial people, because there’s a courtcase in there, and the lawyer in the book (Atticus) is FREAKIN AWESOME. Oh, and the author herself used to be a lawyer, too…
Dude, Harper Lee spent 2 1/2 years writing “Mockingbird”. According to Wikipedia, one time she “became so frustrated that she tossed the manuscript out the window into the snow.” LOL Luckily, “her agent made her retrieve it from the street.” Well, at least she HAD an agent. D:< LOL
I love “Mockingbird”, because the main character, Scout, is nine. I haven’t read any adult books with a young protagonist, before, and I love it how Lee made Scout (aka Jean Louise) so innocent, yet smart. “Mockingbird” is written in Scout’s perspective, and well, half the time, I just wanted to pinch her cheeks and squeal: AWWW YOU ARE SO CUUUUUTE!
I love it how she mixed up the innocent childhood anecdotes (which kind of reminded me of Tom Sawyer) with the very adult, serious issues of rape and racial inequality. (Not that the white girl actually got raped, she framed the poor African dude, but during the trial, the white witnesses describe the supposed rape with so much detail…)
For those of you who were wondering, the book is called “To Kill a Mockingbird” because it also pertains to the death of the innocent. For example, some AWFUL white people sued Tom Robinson, accusing him of rape, when all he did was help the young girl do chores that she was lazy to do herself! Atticus (the lawyer) did a PHENOMENAL job of defending Tom (Atticus is my HEROOOOO <3 LOL), but the stupid, BIASED, SOUTHERN, REDNECK jury convicted Tom just because they could not let a black man win over a white man.
This later on leads to Tom’s death. I suspect that his death was a suicide, because he blindly ran and tried to jump over the fence, even though he must have known that it was futile. (The jail people shot him SEVEN times…I think…)
And the worst part about it was that this only strengthened the white people’s stereotypical views on blacks…for example, they were like, all blacks are criminals, all blacks are stupid. (Now, I’m VERY SORRY if you are black, I’m just merely telling what happened in the book)
Overall, it was a very AWESOME book. I give it 10/10. Handsdown.
YES! IRP IS FINALLY OVER! I CAN REGAIN MY LIFE NOW! NO MORE HOURS OF PREPARING THE POWERPOINT! NO more stressing out over a project! YAhoo! I can finally focus on Geometry and my novels.
SUMMER IS SO CLOSE, YET SO FAR AWAY! Agh! Exams… -_-;
Right now, I’m reading “Looking for Alaska”. It’s very…sensual. I can see why many people accused John Green of being a pornographer. (LOL, those of you who’ve been following my blog posts, will get what I mean) Not that I think he’s a pornographer…it’s just that, there are many suggestive stuff, the characters smoke…it’s very grown up. Yet, I like it. It has philosophical stuff entangled in it. I can see why many English teachers have chosen to have the kids read this book.
LOL I keep thinking of John Green’s blog entry…”Stop condescending the teenagers!”
