Thoughts of an Aspiring Teenage Writer

{November 3, 2008}   Leaves of the Fall

For some reason, I’ve written two poems about the fall this year…one for reflections and one for this contest where I had to write the poem in Korean. (I got 3rd place, which is surprising because I have horrible spelling/grammar/handwriting. But then again, maybe that’s precisely the reason I got 3rd place instead of 1st…hm….)

So, for that reason and because of the fact that the leaves around us are starting to show off their resplendent colors, I have decided to make this month’s theme, “Leaves of the Fall”. Since it’s not particularly cold yet, I don’t think it’d be appropriate to have a snowy theme until around December.

I have some news for you.
1.) I plan on finishing V.Fia (FOR REAL THIS TIME) before Thanksgiving break. So look forward to reading it then.
2.) Since I completely forgot about the quote of the week. (I am so sorry, but I was too busy with my lab write-up for Bio and other things), I have two up on the page right now.
3.) I am not participating in NaNoWriMo…because well, I already have 3 drafts in progress. I don’t need to fast draft a new one. However, I will work on those 3 as much as I can this month.
4.) I have serious internet addiction problems. Someone has to keep watch over me and slap me every time I go on Youtube. Every time I have freetime, I go to Google/youtube/whatever and not work on my novel. D:

{September 15, 2008}   Heh, sorry guys

Sorry for not updating for a long time. I was seriously overwhelmed with school work (and am still now, sort of)…I’m trying to perfect my time management skills (if that’s even possible) and trying not to procrastinate…

Although, I have to admit, today I didn’t get anything done but read and finish “The Battle for Skandia” by John Flanagan. Awesome book by the way. Awesome series. Will be writing about it later.

I’m more than 80% done with 50,000 words, and I honestly think that it’ll have to be a lot longer. I’m thinking about writing the book out until THE VERY END… (Like, bye Sebastian, Fia, and all my good friends in Eden D:) and split it into two.

So it’s going to be VERY long. I think.

Well, the theme for this month is based on the overwhelming amount of diversity at our school. It’s kind of hard to believe that all those people (and a lot more outside of school) exist in our world, and are breathing, talking, laughing, crying, living this very moment. Going to high school has really…expanded my horizons.

(And no, Barney & Stephanie, I am not trying to imitate our Webmastering teacher when I say, “plethora”…although we all know that it’s probably his favorite word. :D )

But of course, as with everything in life, along with all the pros of high school, there are also the cons.
Less time. The looming, 2-digit numbers that seem to haunt you everywhere you go… The scary yet exciting knowledge that sooner or later, we’ll be letting go of our parents’ hands and fly off into the world…

I will try to continue writing. So far, I haven’t had that much luck, but I will try. In fact, I think I’ll do that tonight. Yes. Tonight.

How’s school for everyone?

Well, tomorrow is AUGUST! Already! Summer has come and gone and left us with new challenges (or will sooner or later…) in the new school year…hence the theme. It kind of scares me to think that I’m going (and most of you are, too) to HIGH SCHOOL next year. I remember having dreams about this. D:

But now, ready or not, high school is just around the corner and with it will come new beginnings. I wish you all luck in the next school year and hope it’ll be great.

And yes, I will still be working on my novel. I finished Lightweaver last October. Hopefully I can finish V.Fia before then.

{June 30, 2008}   Here, have a watermelon.

Since the weather here in Texas is probably going to be hot for a while, I thought it’d be nice to have a refreshing theme to help people cool off. Ergo, the theme for July has a watermelon floating (sinking?) in the water.

But that’s probably the only ‘good’ news I have for you today. Today I just got an email from Caren Johnson. She passed my manuscript on (which means that she is rejecting). Which kind of, sort of, sucks because I’ve been waiting for her response for more than ten weeks now. But then again, the good part is that half the things she pointed out (she listed things that needed improvement), I either already fixed or am planning to fix.

I’m very happy I already started on the new version. Not that it’s any better. Um. I mean, I think the old version was lacking what the new is not, but the new one has it’s own individual problems.
Writing can sometimes be a VERY frustrating activity.

Speaking of frustrating activities, I currently have a semester project and a 10-page review that I have to complete for Foundations. But that’s not what I’m complaining about. What I’m complaining about is the fact that they JUST gave us BOTH of those things, and simply told us to finish them in two days.

It’s funny how they tell us not to procrastinate, and give us these projects all in the last minute.

Oh, and I’m currently listening to the audio book version of “An Abundance of Katherines”. It’s very interesting. John Green never fails to amaze me. More on “Katherines” later.

My novel…hm…I’m planning on finishing up the new version this weekend.

Right now, I’m drowning in Personal Fitness. “Any Body Can Be FIT!!”
